The UK meal prep market has exploded over the past few years. What started as a niche fitness offering has gone properly mainstream, and there are now dozens of companies competing for your fridge space.
The problem: most "best meal prep" articles are sponsored content, affiliate roundups, or written by people who have never used the services. We're HomeCooks, so we're obviously biased. That's why we've laid out the prices, menu sizes and who actually cooks the food, so you can judge for yourself.
Last updated 22 October 2026. Prices, delivery fees and review scores re-checked on each company's own website. We update this guide every month.

Prices checked 19 October 2026 on each company's own website, help centre or menu. Introductory offers are excluded. "10 meals, delivered" is the standard price for 10 meals plus delivery; where a company doesn't publish a figure, we say so rather than guess. Prices change often, so check before you order. First, Let's Clear Something Up
People often mix up meal prep services and meal kit services. They're fundamentally different:
Meal prep services (like HomeCooks, Frive, Prep Kitchen, Simmer Eats)
- Meals arrive fully cooked and ready to eat
- Just heat and serve, in a few minutes
- No cooking, chopping or washing up
- Ideal for: busy people who genuinely don't have time to cook
Meal kit services (like HelloFresh, Gousto, Mindful Chef)
- Ingredients arrive with recipe cards
- You still cook the meal yourself (20 to 45 minutes)
- Generates washing up
- Ideal for: people who enjoy cooking but hate meal planning and shopping
Meal kits are cheaper per serving: on a 2-person, 3-recipe box, HelloFresh works out at £5.25 a serving and Gousto at £5.38, while Mindful Chef recipes run £6.90 to £10.25 a serving plus £5.99 delivery (October 2026).
And supermarket ready meals are a third option: cheaper, but usually higher in salt and additives, with small portions. If you're comparing those, read our guide to the best ready meals in the UK.
Frozen and long-life ready meal services (COOK, Field Doctor, Jane Plan) sit in between: fully cooked for you, but stored in the freezer or cupboard rather than the fridge.
This article focuses on meal prep delivery: fully cooked meals delivered to your door.

The Best Meal Prep Service for What You Need
Best for weight loss
Prep Kitchen's Fat Loss plan keeps meals around 500 kcal with 35 to 45g of protein, from £6.95 a meal. Frive Lean keeps every meal under 500 kcal. If you want the whole day decided for you, Jane Plan runs structured 1,200 kcal (women) and 1,400 kcal (men) plans, with a minimum term on most plans. See also our weight loss meal delivery guide.
Best for high protein and muscle gain
Prep Kitchen's Muscle Gain plan (around 700 kcal) and its large portions reach 50 to 65g of protein. Simmer Eats offers a Large portion at around 60g, and FuelHub meals run 36 to 67g. Most HomeCooks dishes have 30g or more, and 25 of the 62 on this week's menu have 40g or more. More in our high protein ready meals guide.
Cheapest meal prep
Muscle Food's Prepped Pots are the cheapest, from £3.79 a meal on a 14-meal plan. Pots are around 300 to 460 kcal with 21 to 37g protein, so they're smaller than most meal prep. Macro Based Diet lets you build meals from £4.85, plus £7.50 delivery on every order.
Best frozen meals
COOK has the strongest reviews in this guide (4.8 from more than 55,000) and around 130 meals for one, mostly £6.00 to £7.50, with free delivery on a subscription. Field Doctor is the pick for specific diets, with low FODMAP, gluten free, Mediterranean and heart healthy ranges.
Best for halal
BOZU is the only service here where all the meat is halal. Prep Kitchen's chicken is halal certified, and The Good Prep has a halal plan.
Best for GLP-1 users
If you're on Mounjaro or Wegovy and eating smaller portions, FuelHub, Field Doctor, Jane Plan and Muscle Food all now have dedicated GLP-1 ranges or plans.

The good: better reviews than Frive, Prep Kitchen and Simmer Eats (4.6 on Trustpilot), the widest menu in UK meal prep, high protein meals with full macros, a £4.99 delivery fee that's lower than most, and you can skip weeks or cancel anytime.
The catch: popular dishes can sell out in a given week. Delivery covers England, Wales and Scotland, excluding the Scottish Highlands.
Frive (formerly Lions Prep)
Price: from £7.99 per meal, with £1 off each main when you order 10 or more
Menu: 40+ meals a week, 100+ a month
Calories: 400 to 650 kcal per meal
Frive positions itself as a premium option with nutritionist-approved, macro-balanced meals and natural ingredients.
The good: natural ingredients, macro-balanced, good for dietary requirements (vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free), a much bigger menu than it used to have, and meals that last up to 6 days.
The catch: central production rather than small batches, subscription only with no one-off orders, and a minimum of 2 meals a day.
Prep Kitchen
Price: from £6.95 per meal (Fat Loss), from £8.25 (Muscle Gain)
Menu: 21 dishes on a three-week rotation
Focus: macro tracking and competitive pricing
Prep Kitchen has carved out a niche in fitness, splitting its menu into fat loss and muscle gain plans with balanced and low-carb options.
The good: competitive pricing, clear macros, regular or large portions (35 to 45g protein, or 50 to 65g on large), and halal-certified chicken.
The catch: a smaller menu, central kitchen production, no dedicated gluten-free range, and the delivery fee isn't published before checkout.
Simmer Eats
Price: from £7.49 per meal, plus £6.99 delivery
Menu: a weekly rotating menu, minimum 6 meals per order
Protein: around 40g per meal, or around 60g on a Large portion
Founded in 2017, Simmer Eats focuses on flavour and convenience.
The good: strong protein content, chilled delivery, meals that last up to 5 days, three portion sizes, and vegetarian and vegan options.
The catch: the £6.99 delivery fee on every order pushes the real cost to about £8.66 a meal on the minimum 6-meal box.
The Good Prep
Price: £10 to £15 per meal, depending on the plan
Menu: 45+ meals
Plans: 1 to 5 meals a day, 3 to 6 days a week
The good: quality ingredients, decent variety, free delivery, plans for weight loss, performance and halal, and strong reviews (4.7 from 389).
The catch: expensive, and built around daily plans rather than picking individual meals.
Muscle Food Prepped Pots
Price: £3.79 to £6.99 per meal
Menu: around 30 pots
The good: the cheapest option, decent protein for the price, a GLP-1 range, and no subscription needed.
The catch: a quality trade-off, smaller pots (around 300 to 460 kcal), £5.99 delivery, and the lowest review score in this guide (2.9 on Trustpilot for Prepped Pots).
FuelHub
Price: £8.00 per meal on a subscription, at any box size
Delivery: £6.95
Menu: 35 meals, changing monthly
The good: high protein, meals that last up to 7 days, one-off boxes available, and a GLP-1 range and a kids' range.
The catch: no discount for ordering more, so 10 meals cost £86.95 delivered. Not available in Highland Scotland or Northern Ireland.
Chefly
Price: £7.99 per meal for 6, falling to £7.49 from 12
Delivery: £5.99
Menu: about 48 items
The good: a decent menu, preservative-free cooking and a price that falls as you order more.
The catch: protein varies widely (9 to 49g across mains), Wednesday delivery only, and a lower Trustpilot score (3.5).
BOZU
Price: "from £5.70 a meal" on the site; box prices aren't shown until you build a plan
Menu: about 13 mains, high protein, keto and low carb
Minimum: 6 meals a week
BOZU is one of the newest names in UK meal prep. All its meat is halal, which is still rare in this market.
The good: halal throughout, protein-focused meals, fresh and never frozen.
The catch: a small menu, meals to eat within 3 days, and strict terms: online cancellation only from day 7 with 7 days' notice. Trustpilot 3.8 from 183 reviews.
Macro Based Diet
Price: £4.85 (weight loss), £5.40 (maintenance), £5.95 (weight gain)
Delivery: £7.50 per order
The good: build-your-own meals from 28 proteins, low prices, and no subscription needed.
The catch: the £7.50 delivery fee, and smaller meals (around 300 to 470 kcal).
COOK (frozen)
Price: mostly £6.00 to £7.50 for a meal for one
Delivery: free on a subscription; otherwise £3.95 to collect locally, or £6.95 or £8.95 by courier, free over £95
The good: a huge frozen range, 100+ shops for click and collect, and outstanding reviews (4.8 from more than 55,000).
The catch: frozen rather than fresh, and a £45 minimum order.
Field Doctor (frozen)
Price: £7.49 to £8.99 per meal, with smaller "midi" portions from £5.99
Delivery: free over £67.50, otherwise from £6.50
The good: the widest range of diet-specific plans here, including low FODMAP, menopause and heart healthy, with strong reviews (4.5).
The catch: frozen, a £50 minimum order, and meals to eat within 48 hours of thawing.
Jane Plan (long-life)
Price: £409 for a 28-day box of breakfasts, lunches, dinners and snacks (about £14.61 a day)
Format: long-life meals that don't need a fridge
The good: a complete, structured weight loss plan with support, plus a GLP-1 box.
The catch: most plans have a minimum term of 1 to 8 months, and cancelling early carries a charge.

How Much Does Meal Prep Delivery Cost in the UK?
In 2026 most UK meal prep services cost between £6.50 and £8 per meal before delivery. Budget options start under £4 with a quality trade-off, and full daily plans run £10 to £15 a meal.
Watch for two things that change the real price:
- Delivery fees. Most services charge delivery on every box. A £6.99 charge on a 6-meal box adds over £1 to every meal, so compare the total, not just the price per meal. HomeCooks delivery is £4.99, and free on your first order.
- Box size. Most services, including HomeCooks, get cheaper per meal the more you order. At HomeCooks a 6-meal box is £47.64 (£7.94 a meal) and a 14-meal box is £103.60 (£7.40 a meal).
Put together, 10 meals from most fresh meal prep services cost between about £70 and £90 a week, delivered. See the "10 meals, delivered" column in the table above for each service.
Services That Have Left the UK, or Were Never Here
- Calo no longer offers UK delivery. Its website now only serves Gulf countries, but some older "best meal prep" lists still recommend it.
- Factor (Factor75) delivers only to the mainland United States, with no UK service. See our guide to Factor meals in the UK for the closest alternatives.
How to Choose
What's your real budget? If price is everything, Muscle Food is cheapest but quality suffers. For quality without premium pricing, HomeCooks or Prep Kitchen offer good value.
How important is variety? If you get bored easily, HomeCooks' 200+ dish menu is unmatched. Most services have 20 to 50 options, which can feel repetitive after a month.
Do you want meals or meal plans? The Good Prep and Jane Plan push you towards daily plans. HomeCooks, Frive and Prep Kitchen let you pick individual meals.
How much does quality matter? Check the reviews, not the marketing. HomeCooks is rated 4.6 on Trustpilot, higher than Frive, Prep Kitchen, Simmer Eats, FuelHub, Chefly and BOZU.
Fresh or frozen? Fresh meal prep usually needs eating within 3 to 7 days. Frozen (COOK, Field Doctor) keeps for longer and suits occasional orders.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best meal prep service in the UK?
It depends on what you want. For quality and variety, we recommend HomeCooks. For the lowest price, Muscle Food. For strict macro plans, Prep Kitchen. For full daily plans, The Good Prep. For frozen meals, COOK.
What is the cheapest meal prep service in the UK?
Muscle Food Prepped Pots, from about £3.79 a meal. Among full-size, high protein services, Prep Kitchen and HomeCooks are the most affordable, at roughly £7 to £8 a meal before delivery. HomeCooks delivery is free on your first order.
How much does meal prep cost per week?
For 10 meals a week, most fresh meal prep services cost about £70 to £90 including delivery. At HomeCooks, 10 meals cost £80.99 delivered, and your first delivery is free.
Is meal prep delivery good for weight loss?
It can be, because every meal is portioned and labelled with calories and macros, which takes the guesswork out of a calorie deficit. Look for a service that shows full nutrition for every dish and offers lower-calorie options.
How long do meal prep meals last?
Fresh meal prep usually lasts 3 to 5 days in the fridge. Check the use-by date on each meal, and freeze anything you won't eat in time if the service says it's suitable for freezing. Each company is different: BOZU says 3 days, Simmer Eats up to 5, Frive up to 6 and FuelHub up to 7.
Do meal prep companies deliver across the UK?
Most of the big services deliver across most of mainland Great Britain. HomeCooks delivers across England, Wales and Scotland, excluding the Scottish Highlands. Enter your postcode at checkout to confirm delivery to your area.
Is Calo still available in the UK?
No. Calo's website now only serves Gulf countries, and we couldn't find any UK offer as of October 2026.
Is Factor available in the UK?
No. Factor delivers only to the mainland United States. UK alternatives with a similar fully cooked, macro-labelled format include HomeCooks, Frive and Prep Kitchen.
The Bottom Line
