How does the HomeCooks subscription work?
Choose your plan size (6-14 meals), pick your dishes each week, and enjoy balanced, chef-made meals ready in under 10 minutes. You can plan ahead, skip weeks, or cancel anytime.
What if I forget to choose my meals?
No problem - we'll either repeat your last box or surprise you with new recipes from our chefs.
Can I pause or cancel my subscription?
Yes - you're in control. You can skip weeks or cancel anytime before your box is locked in, straight from your account.
Delivery
Where do you deliver, and on what days?
We deliver across England, Scotland, and Wales (excluding the Scottish Highlands). Deliveries are available on Tuesdays or Fridays - simply choose your preferred day at checkout.
How are my meals delivered?
Your meals are delivered by DHL in our special thermal packaging. No signature is required upon delivery - the box will be delivered directly to your doorstep. If you're not home, DHL can leave the box with a neighbour or at your building's reception. Our thermal packaging keeps everything perfectly cold, so there's no worry about the food spoiling.
What if I'm not home for delivery?
No worries - DHL will leave your box at your doorstep, with a neighbour, or at your building's reception. You will be able to choose this on the DHL website. Our thermal packaging keeps meals cold for hours, so you don't need to be home to receive it.
How do I contact the HomeCooks team?
Use the chat button on the bottom-right of our site. We're online 9:30am–6:30pm, and we'll reply to any out-of-hours messages as soon as we're back.
Storing & Heating Meals
How do you hold the food?
We are proud that we hold our chef food frozen for a short period of time. Freezing locks in peak freshness, flavour, and quality - without preservatives. It also gives you more flexibility at home and helps cut down on food waste.
Can I store the food in my fridge or freezer?
Yes - you can keep your meals in either the fridge or freezer. Just don't refreeze once a dish has been defrosted.
How should I store my meals once delivered?
Our dishes are all suitable for freezing when delivered to help avoid waste and should be eaten by the use-by date. If stored in the fridge, they should be consumed within 3-5 days.
Where do I find reheating instructions?
You'll find them on each meal's packaging, and also on our website under the meal's page.
How do I heat up my meals?
All meals come fully prepared - just heat and eat. Most can be microwaved in 3–5 minutes, or warmed in the oven/air fryer in about 25 minutes. Heating from chilled gives the best results.
How many portions are your meals?
Each meal is a single serving, designed to satisfy a hungry adult.
Ingredients & Food Standards
Where are the ingredients sourced from?
Our chefs source their own ingredients, with a focus on quality, flavour, and seasonality. Wherever possible, they use local and seasonal produce - so you get the best ingredients in every dish.
What food safety checks are in place?
All our chefs are registered with their local council, hold a Level 2 food safety certificate, and have a 5★ hygiene rating - meeting the same standards as a high level professional food business.
Do you cater for allergies and intolerances?
Allergen and ingredient information is shown on each meal's page and printed on the label, with allergens clearly marked in bold.
Please note: our chefs cook in kitchens where all 14 major allergens are present, so we cannot guarantee meals are free from cross-contamination. If you have allergies, we recommend choosing your meals individually and avoiding our roulette option.
