Lidgates Butchers has been in operation since 1850 and our family have always sold pies in the shop. We use recipes that have been passed down over the decades, refining them here and there as tastes have changed but our core principles have always remained the same: the best quality ingredients treated with care and attention will produce excellent pies.

Remember to check ingredients

Low rating not because of taste or representation. Could not eat it because I did not check ingredients an did not expect mushrooms in the pie. I am allergic to Mushrooms and sadly could not eat it.

Good pie

The pie was very nice and decent size, I would have like a bit more filling, but other than that, I'd recommend it.

Good Steak & Kidney Pie

A regular favourite. Pie is well filled with large pieces of tender steak, and well cooked large pieces of kidney (firm not overcooked). My only wish is that the pastry was more flaky or a crispy full shortcrust as it has a tendency to be soggy when cooked.

Fit for a Queen!

Delicious pie! Huge! Can easily feed 2 (with sides). I really enjoyed it, but wish gluten free versions were on offer, as my stomach did suffer afterwards!

We were really looking forward to eating these, and we were not disappointed. Wonderfully delicious pie, packed with meat and flavour. A definite 10 out of 10.
