Indonesian Beef Rendang Curry

This recipe has been in our family for 4 generations, it is one of the most authentic recipes. The secret of this dish is that the beef is slow-cooked for 8 hours with lemongrass, galangal, lime leaves and coconut cream. I put homemade sweet and sour sauce and chilli sambal on the side so you can decide how hot you want it.

Has a kick 🌶🌶.

Great

Nice and tasty. Ratio of rice to curry needs a review. Chef needs to add a little more curry in my opinion. I mix mine together which gives it a sort of Biryani look. I heat mine in the microwave from frozen and it always turns out very well.

Not what I am used to!

This version of beef rendang is not very similar to the Malay version I am accustomed to, where the beef is cut into small chunks (not shredded) & there is a sauce, which makes it less dry than this version. There was too much chilli for my taste and, even though for the most part, it was in one corner of the container, it still managed to get throughout the dish, which meant I had to leave most of it. I'll stick to the Malay version!

Spicy and delicious

It is hot for my palate , others may love it for that but I just add some yogurt , meat was tender and will order again
