After spending ten years living in China, Tom returned to the UK with a mission: to bring the bold, authentic flavours of Southwest China to British kitchens. His Kung Pao dishes showcase the real taste of Sichuan - fiery, fragrant, and utterly addictive.
The Yep Kitchen Story
Tom moved to China at 21, initially just to travel and explore Asia. He ended up staying for a decade - teaching at an international school in Beijing while using every holiday to travel deeper into China's incredible food regions.
"There's a huge gap between what most of the UK thinks about Chinese food and the real thing. That's exactly what I'm trying to change with Yep Kitchen."
In November 2022, Tom swapped textbooks for taste buds. He rented a production unit at New Covent Garden Market's Mission Kitchen and started Yep Kitchen - self-funded with savings from his years in China. The initial launch was at farmers' markets, where Chinese ex-pats gave incredible feedback, validating that he'd nailed the authentic flavours.
Today, Yep Kitchen's sauces are in over 180 stores across the UK, from Cornwall to Scotland. Tom imports his Erjingtiao chillies and premium Sichuan peppercorns directly from local farms in Chengdu, combining them with award-winning cold-pressed British rapeseed oil from Norfolk's Yare Valley.
