I am the owner of Layla's Kitchen - a catering company, I am also a west London based freelance private chef. Originally from Bristol, I grew up in a big, mixed Caribbean and North African family that gifted me an immense cultural richness in the kitchen. This is where my passion for food came from. Over time, this passion become my form of meditation.

I loved this soup, warming and hearty with some fabulous flavours. Will be stocking the freezer with this one! Lucy K.

My speciality is Middle Eastern, Caribbean and Mediterranean

What is your favourite dish to eat and why?

My favourite dish to eat is either Homemade Jamaican chicken soup or Red Pea soup. It reminds me of my childhood and especially of my grandmother, she always made soups

What is your favourite dish to cook and why?

Crispy octopus with smokey red pepper scotch bonnet chimichurri - I love this dish as it is one I created; the texture of the octopus and the flavours of the sauce are just a fantastic combination for the mouth.

What is your proudest cooking memory?

There are two: the first is auditioning amongst 12k other chefs be on Gordon Ramsay's Next Level Chef on ITV and making it to the final 12 that made it on the show; the second, is organising and catering a supper club pop-up restaurant for a charity, Choose Love, for which I am an ambassador.
