Lithuanian Kitchen

I've loved cooking since I was young and it has been a source of confidence for me as well as a creative outlook. Since being in the UK, I've adapted my recipes to cater to the local taste buds, fusing Lithuanian food culture with the British palate. This makes me happy as it allows me to share my country's cuisine with the country I have grown to love.

No chicken, chicken soup

Although it was a very flavoursome soup, I would not have classed it as borscht. Rather, it is a pleasant vegetable soup. The only sign of chicken were some grains of ground chicken mince, not chunks of meat.

Nice flavour, but...

I tried the chicken soup and, while it was a flavourful soup... I don't think I found any chicken in it.
It was quite thin/watery, with chunks of veg in the bottom, and I had expected it to be red like most borscht soup i've had.

I also found it to be rather salty, possibly too salty for some people - not enough to stop me eating it all, but some may find it too much.

I've got the veggie one to try, so I will see how it compares.

In summary, A tasty soup but if someone had given it to me blind i wouldn't have been able to tell that it was chicken nor borscht... I would have just said it was a general vegetable tasty soup.

Light, tasty soups

I tried both chicken and vegetable versions, and they're light, clear broths with a good flavour. Perhaps not heavy enough for a main, but great as a starter or light lunch with some good bread.
